--------Religion plays an important part in the lives of the people of Lawrence County. Our communities are blessed with over forty churches representing most major denominations. The churches of Lawrence County are very dynamic institutions and have adapted to the county’s growth through extensive building programs and expanded ministries.
--------Monticello and Lawrence County also have interesting and colorful histories. Our heritage’s are featured at the annual Pioneer Pilgrimage during April. Visitors are given an opportunity to tour antebellum homes and cabins that have been painstakingly restored by the Lawrence County Historical Society. Monticello and Lawrence County citizens are very proud of their rich and illustrious past and look forward with great excitement to the challenges of the future.
