DIRECTIONS TO MT. ZION
We have an expression here in the country
that almost always brings a smile to the
face of the hearer: "You can't get there
from here." Mt. Zion comes close to
being one of those places. It sits on the
point of a ridge at the end of a country
road. Flowing around the base of the ridge
is Cain Mill Creek that meanders through
the woods on its way to McGhee's Creek. The
water that forms Cain Mill Creek percolates
out of the ground just up the hollow from
Mt. Zion and begins its journey that ends
in the Gulf of Mexico at the mouth of the
Mighty Mississippi. But,
you don't have to come upriver to find us.
Here are some simple "country directions"
that will get you here soon enough.
About 12 miles east of Bude, Mississippi,
on Highway 98 turn north at Fenn's Grocery.
Proceed north for one mile until you get
to the first blacktop on the right. Turn
right and proceed east for approximately
one mile until you get to the first blacktop
on the left. Turn left and stay on the blacktop
until the road ends at Mt. Zion. That will
be another mile or so. You will know you
are here when you can't go any farther and
you look around and decide it
would be a nice place to sit a spell.
