I AM RESOLVED

New Year's resolutions are a dime a dozen.  They come in all shapes and sizes.  For the most part, unfortunately, we break them before January is even history.  There are a few, however, that we would do well to  keep.  Some of these are found within the pages of our Baptist Hymnal in a song entitled "I Am Resolved".  Let's take a fresh look at this tonight.

I am resolved:

I.  NO LONGER TO LINGER

What has been holding you back in your walk with the Lord?

Have you been charmed by the world's delights?

We must set our sights on things that are higher and nobler.

    Psalm 121:1

II.  TO GO TO THE SAVIOR

Matthew 11:28---This is the only way we will ever have rest.

John 6:67-68--He has the words of life.

To go to anyone else is to buy the lie.  So many claim to have the answer and so many are wrong.

III. TO FOLLOW THE SAVIOR

"Follow Me".  We have moved from  "come unto Me" to "follow Me".  I would venture to say
that we probably do the first part better than the last part.

If we are going to follow Him we must "heed what He says and do what He wills"---Luke 6:46.

"He is the living way"--All other ways lead to death (John 14:6).  Also Proverbs 14:12, 16:25

IV. TO ENTER THE KINGDOM

Ain't nothing gonna stop me now. "Entering the Kingdom" involves "leaving the paths of sin".
We must ask the question of ourselves, "What path am I on?".  The kingdom path is
    described beautifully in Psalm 23.

Too many folks want it both ways and this is not possible.

    Expect opposition (and a blessinng)---Matthew 5:11

V.  AND WHO WILL GO WITH ME?

That is a question we must ask if we are to bring others with us into the kingdom of God.

"I'm going to heaven.  Won't you go with me?"
