Must be a book of fiction.
Must be approved by me, and the title and author turned in with your
name when requested.
Due the first day you return from Christmas break.
Two to five pages handwritten, or one-and-a-half to three pages typed.
All meaningful sentences please -- I can tell when a student is
just trying to fill space!
If you get ideas from a film or other critical source, be sure to properly
credit the author of the idea. See my web pages for links to proper
research citation.
The following must be included, if applicable:
1. title, author
2. setting (time and place)
3. plot summary (one to three paragraphs). Assume I have already
read the book. For this report you are simply "reminding" me of what
happens in the story. Mention the conflict(s) in your plot
summary (man versus nature, etc.)
4. resolution of the conflict(s)
5. characterization -- describe the major characters (personality type,
important physical attributes, tragic flaws, etc. Do the characters
change or grow throughout the book? If so, how and why?
6. theme -- a lesson about life, or what the author would want the
reader to learn or appreciate by reading the book
7. critique -- Did you like the book? Was it well written? Why or why
not?
That's it -- let me know of any questions you may have!
